Where in Sussex - Round 53
CLUE 1
Today’s location has a very small population and very little really to note about it, but certainly it is famous across the region for a certain reason. Another reason that it is famous is because of some geological features that are to be found in the chalk cliffs here, one of the best examples in the world.
The population here has always been mainly rural. The railway and industry have always played a major part here, as well as the river. Barges used to travel up the river and load up with the product of local labour, as well as being taken away by railway from the numerous sidings here. Today this industry has gone, with many uses being suggested for the site, although it still remains deserted today.
CLUE 3
Although in the past transport played a major role here by river and rail, today road is by far the biggest way that most people know of this place, although ironically it’s the railway that started all of the problems here in the first place!
