Pictures from Nevill Juvenile Bonfire Society’s Night
Well, I was supposed to be going to Firle Bonfire, but I couldn’t make it there in time, as they run slightly earlier that most places, so I went from work to Nevill, in Lewes.
I’ve never been to Nevill before, so it was good to go to a new one. The pictures were tricky as the wind was very strong and it was hard to hold the camera steady. I found what I thought was an excellent position, up the top of Nevill Road in Lewes, just before the firesite entrance. It would have been superb, but I had the problem of being higher than the streetlights down the hill, plus having a set of reflective traffic light surrounds to contend with, which I hadn’t factored in, having made sure there were no roadsigns in shot, although they only cause a problem when taking pictures with the flash, which most pictures aren’t on bonfire.
Up on the firesite, the wind was strong, meaning that there was slight “drift” of the fireworks. They looked fine, but the problem I had was “streaking”. I was also a bit close for the 18mm lens, as last time at Rotherfield and Fletching I was further back, we live and learn!
More photos at My Flickr Site and more info about NJBS at their excellent website. It’s a shame most societies don’t have such good info online!
