I work in Hastings, in East Sussex, England. Usually the weather is fairly quiet, but we do occasionally get hit by the effects of the “Spanish Plume” weather system, which is basically when warm, moist, thundery air comes up from Spain and France and when it hits land, it all kicks off.

There were reports of a waterspout hitting the (recently re-opened!) Hastings Pier. Water came rushing down the hill and flooded the basement of the buildings next to my one. Luckily our basement was ok!

I took some videos with my mobile phone and the BBC used one of these to illustrate their report on the story.
